Dreading

I'm dreading this election.  Dread dread dread.  I don't like either candidate.  I'm terrified that we are absolutely on a crash course for socialism, worried about the consequences of the vote on Prop 8 in CA, and feeling almost helpless as I watch the masses seem to not realize or care.  Ugh!  I would love to write in a candidate, but as much as I don't like McCain, I truly distrust Obama.  What do you do except pray we make it through the next four years and then have someone come out of the woodwork in 2012?

I know exactly how you feel, Mary. Especially a mother of young children, it scares you to death. Unfortunately, I dont feel like "the masses" will see it as a mess at all for the first term. All Obama has to say is "Nothing is my fault, it was the previous administration that left me this mess" No one will hold Obama accountable and that is what is truely scary to me.

I feel the same way. I agree with Bren in the fact that they will pass it all off as Bush's fault and he is cleaning up the mess. I just pray that everyone will use their voice in the weeks to come. So many people are opting not to vote cause they don't like their choices. All I can say is we are in for some hard times.

YES ON 8!!! On a positive note. . .everyone here is feeling really optimistic about passing prop 8. there really is so much support. people on corners waving signs, signs in soooo many yards, commercials, it just seems like there are still a lot of people that care about family and marriage. anyways, but yeah about the presidential election, that IS dismal. I don't want to see either as president, what do you do?

A friend sent a pick of Samuel the Lamanite on the wall w/a YES on 8! sign in his hands. Maybe, just maybe, this Yes on 8 will be the beginning of something good (besides keeping marriage real). People getting used to standing for something good POLITICALLY! oOh the dirty word--politics--now it's w/in their comfort level. Just maybe now they will get involved in the next election EARLY enough to do some good & get some decent candidates & sufficient pressure so we aren't left in this mess again.

I am SUPER scared too, friend. I don't like either candidate, but I HAVE to choose the lesser of two evils. I just don't understand how it got to this. I'm also scared of who will be appointed as judges if/when Obama secures the presidency. All I can do is pray.
